Writing/Learning Center

Director, Conklin Academic Skills Center, College of Saint Elizabeth [CSE], Morristown, NJ.  Responsible for managing the educational assistance center that served over 2000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Center provided academic support and tutoring for students in all programs. Responsible for providing developmental courses to all new undergraduate students in the areas of writing, reading, and mathematics.  Conducted all assessment of the Conklin Academic Skills Center. Recruited and trained professional and peer tutors and maintaining the College Reading and Learning Association [CRLA]Tutor Certification standards. Coordinated and lead study skills workshops and worked with other campus members to develop retention initiatives for at-risk students.  Worked closely with Office of Disability Services and Education Opportunity Funding (EOF) to address students’ tutorial needs.  Maintained budget-neutral management of Center.  (September 2010 – May 2013)

Faculty Consultant, Francis Marion University Writing Center, Florence, SC.  Tutored students in writing center during semesters when teaching English 111.  Supervised undergraduate writing tutors and assisted them with writing center theory, pedagogy, and practice. (August 2000-May 2003)

Assistant Director, University of Louisiana Writing Center, Lafayette, LA.  Coordinated day-to-day operations, including tutors schedules, time cards, and summer training at the university’s writing center.  In addition to administrative responsibilities, tutored University of Louisiana students with their writing assignments in the English Department’s computerized, networked writing lab. Worked closely with international graduate students on theses and dissertations.  (Summers 1995-1997)
